Bulked Up Coffee (GF, DF, Vegan option)
I want to introduce you to my Bulked Up Coffee. I talk with many clients who experience difficulties drinking the daily coffee that they love. Some of their symptoms include…
-Increased anxiety
-Jitteriness
-Nausea
-Raised cortisol
…& more, so I share this recipe with my clients all the time. If coffee gives you any of the above symptoms, if you tend to be someone who drinks their coffee first thing on an empty stomach, if you’re trying to cut down on visits to your local coffee shop, or you’re just trying to figure out your relationship with coffee, this recipe is a solution for you. My first step is never to remove the ritual all together as it can be so enjoyable. I encourage you to try this first & I’ve shared a video tutorial here. The recipe follows:
Ingredients:
-3/4 of a mug’s-worth of coffee (or Americano)
-Splash of unsweetened milk
-1/4 tsp ground cardamom
-1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
-1 serving protein powder (I prefer vanilla for this, but unflavored or chocolate work too)
-1 tsp healthy fat like coconut butter or tahini
Directions:
-Add all ingredients to a blender & blend until smooth & frothy.
-Pour right back into your mug & enjoy!
Notes:
-If using unflavored protein powder & you’d like it to taste like vanilla, add a dash of vanilla extract.
-Feel free to use this recipe for your matcha latte as well!
