Easy Gluten Free Ochazuke

Hey There,

I know we’re always in need of quick balanced meals, so here is the Easy Gluten Free Ochazuke that I make regularly. It’s calming, balanced, & hydrating. Did I make this up? Don’t even try to give me the credit for this. Ochazuke is a Japanese dish that dates back to the Heian period (794–1185). I just make it using trust pantry staples & want you to utilize it as a well-tested meal option. Sometimes I use warm bone broth in place of green tea. Breakfast, lunch, or dinner! Recipe as follows…

Easy Gluten Free Ochazuke

(Servings: 1)

Ingredients:

-1 cup sushi rice, cooked (I mixed forbidden rice & sushi rice here)

-1 tin of salmon, flaked apart

-1/3 cup Wakame, rehydrated & chopped

-1 tsp toasted sesame seeds, plus more for topping

-1/2 tsp rice vinegar

-Pinch of salt

-Juice of 1/4 lemon

-Green tea, preferably a toasted option like Genmaicha, or warm bone broth

Directions:

-In a mixing bowl, combine the sushi rice, flaked tinned salmon, chopped Wakame, toasted sesame seeds, rice vinegar, a pinch of salt, & the juice of 1/4 lemon. Stir or use your hands to evenly incorporate.

-This mixture should be a bit sticky. Shape it into a measuring cup or bowl, pressing in tightly, then gently flip into your serving bowl. This will give you the nice shape seen in the photo above.

-Gently fill the space in the bowl surrounding the shaped rice mixture with your warm green tea or bone broth. Enjoy this easy balanced meal!

As always, I hope to see your bowls over on Instagram if you try it. Tag me! For the trusty sushi rice methods on stovetop or pressure cooker, join me here.

For your health,
